Structural and behavioural adaptations that the cane toad has made to live in its environment
Structural
Cane toads have 2 large glands that rest on their shoulders. They are used to store poison for it’s self defence. When an animal bites into the cane toad's mouth or eats them, they are exposed to the poison. When an animal eats or consumes a cane toad, toxin is released as a sort of slime from behind the neck and sticks to the gums & tongue of the animal. The cane toad's poison also helps them kill prey for their food.
Cane toads also are very fast breeders. This is bad for us because it is very hard to get rid of them, since they keep reproducing.
Cane toads can survive in harsh conditions making them hard to get rid of.
